Welcome to Feet Up Reflexology

Welcome to my website, I am a reflexologist offering reflexology treatments from the treatment room above the doctors surgery in Pannal, Harrogate. I also offer mobile treatments from the comfort of your home in Harrogate and Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.

Reflexology is an ancient form of healing, practised over 4000 years ago originating from China, India and Egypt. It can be a deeply relaxing treatment both mentally and physically which can aid with the effects of stress and tension.

I trained as a reflexologist in 2012 at Jubliee College and I’m a full member of the AOR association. I decided to become a reflexologist after reflexology helped me with my own struggle with starting a family, reflexology supported me through the whole journey and much more. I then decided I wanted to support people with this wonderful therapy, 10 years on, I have not looked back.

What is Reflexology and how does it work?

Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary health therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing; reducing stress can be the key in optimising good health and building resilience. It is a touch therapy that is based on the theory that different points on the feet correspond with different areas of the body. By pressing and massaging various pressure points on the feet, blockages are released, circulation is boosted helping your body heal itself.

This gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.

How can Reflexology help me?

Reflexology is a therapy which can be received by anyone at any age, from newborn babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between.

It is suggested that reflexology can aid back pain, stress related conditions, digestive disorders, fertility, menstrual/menopausal symptoms, sleep disorders, hormonal imbalance and aid relaxation.

Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. Each session works on an individual basis.

Facial Reflexology

Facial Reflexology is a deeply relaxing treatment which focuses on the reflex areas on the face. It is based on the same principles as foot reflexology which works by stimulating reflex points that correspond to body systems and organs in the body.

The face provides a beautiful and precise tool to read what is going on within the body’s internal organs, central nervous system and neuro-biological system. The close proximity of reflexes to the brain means you can feel results quickly. As tension is gently released it can also help release emotions held in the face and creates a healthy glow.

The stimulation on the face improves blood flow and can naturally stimulate collagen and elastin which gives the effect of tighter, plumper-looking skin.

Facial reflexology can help to reduce symptoms of common ailments which includes:

Migraines

Bruxism

Sinus problems

Stress

Anxiety

Insomnia

IBS

Joint Pain

Depression

The effects of Bells Palsy on the face

I trained at the London School of Reflexology with Ziggie Bergman who is a pioneer in modern Facial Reflexology. Ziggie’s is the Winner of the Association of Reflexologists Award for Excellence and Innovation in modern Facial Reflexology for creating the Bergman Method, which is now being taught to therapists across the globe.

Typical Session

What happens when I go for a treatment?

You will be asked to fill out and sign a consultation form which includes a full medical history before your first treatment, this will be sent via email or text. Your information will be kept confidential. Reflexology is a very easy therapy to receive, the most clothing that will have to be removed for a treatment to take place will be your socks and shoes.

I will then use my hands to apply pressure to various points on your feet and lower leg and finishing off with a wonderful and relaxing foot massage.

A typical session will last around 50 minutes.

How will I feel after a reflexology treatment?

After one or two treatments your body may respond in a very noticeable way. The majority of people feel a sense of well-being and relaxation; however, sometimes people report feeling lethargic or tearful, but this is usually transitory and reflexologists believe that it is part of the healing process.

Yes, you can have a treatment out of the comfort of your own home. I have a very comfortable portable chair so all you need to do is sit back and relax.

Is Reflexology relaxing?

Usually, after a treatment your tension may be reduced and you might feel relaxed. You might also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of wellbeing improving. You may also find that other aspects improve too; however, this happens on an individual basis.

Can you diagnose medical conditions?

No, as a reflexologist I am not able to diagnose or cure medical conditions. Areas of your feet may indicate areas that are out of balance or congested within your body. As part of the aftercare advice we can discuss what areas are out of balance but if you have questions regarding a medical condition you will need to contact your doctor.

How can I book a treatment?

Call or text me on 07974 913442 or email Feetupreflexology@yahoo.com

Can I claim on my health insurance if it covers reflexology?

I am more than happy to provide you with a receipt which for certain policies you can use to claim back your reflexology treatment.

Will the treatment hurt?

A Reflexology shouldn’t be painful. Some reflex points might be tender or painful when stimulated which could indicate an imbalance. Pressure can be increased or decreased according to your needs. Most people describe the sensation as very relaxing.
